My beauty room need some real attention so the other day I tackled this massive job. I had to get a new "organizer" for my makeup so I went to Ross and Marshals. I like to use office and jewelry organizers. A year ago I went to the dollar store and found some blue plastic draw organizers that I use for eyeliners and lipgloss. I believe they were 3 for $2. They interlock so that's a plus.
The first organizer I got was $8.99. It's a hard container that is used for office supplies. Its fabric which is nice looking but it is also prone to stains. It doesn't bother me much because I keep it in a cabinet. I have over grown it so I had to get a new one.
Come in the newer bigger container. This one was $9.99. I found it in the clearance aisle at Marshals down from $14.99. This one doesn't have the square parts, which I like because I can fit more. It is also deeper than the old one. The downfall, it wont fit in my cabinet but hey I can get over that. I just put a few things in there to show you how deep it is.
I needed something that would hold my pallets so I got to thinking, 'what holds thin flat things?', bingo bango mama had a great idea. A magazine/mail holder. At this moment it is holding 13 palettes.
For the best part of this.....the DIY. I love me some YouTube and yall now it. I have been following Ingrid Nilsen for some time now and I LOVE her GIY (Glam It Yourself). If you don't follow her go and do it right now. She is so cute and sweet and always makes my day better. Ingrid if your reading this (probably not, but I can hope) I love you and keep up the great work girl. Ok back to the DIY/GIY. She did this awesome thing with old Bath and Body Works candles. She put them in the freezer for an hour then took them out and used a butter knife to crack the left over candle and pull out the wicks. Then you wash them with some soap and hot water. This helps get the candle and sticky or burnt black stuff off the candle. The best way to get the last of the glue and residue off is to use some rubbing alcohol. I used 91% but you can use whatever you have. I have also used nail polish remover to. Once you have did the final wipe out you're all done. You can fill it with beads or sand or whatever your little hearts desire. Ingrid shows you how to do designs and other things to the jar. I needed something to hold my brushes and I thought hey lets have some fun. I have a lot of beads and rocks and all sorts of stuff so I used some white ones to hold them up.
Them in the freezer.
Frozen.
Implements needed.
Popping the leftovers out.
Before washing them out.
Completely cleaned out.
Finished product.
(Not all my brushes but some, lol)
You can do this with any candles to. I had a few Glad ones lying around and used them. I used them in my bathroom to hold cotton rounds and Q-tips. I like them because they look pricey but really the cost me $2.99 and had a double use.
I have some mason jar candles that I can't wait to do this to. I'm going to link Ingid's video below so you guys can check it out. I hope this gave you guys some organization ideas. I also hope this is a fun DIY you guys might want to try out. Thanks for stopping by and having a read.
