I learned a lot in esthetics school about how the skin works and how to put your best face forward. in school we used the Dermalogica skin care line. It is a very good line that uses mostly natural ingredients but it is a bit pricey. You can buy their products online or in store like Ulta and Sephora. The best part about their lines is that you can "cocktail" their products to what your skin needs.
I have oily skin that is dry in some spots and is very testy and can brake out at the drop of the hat. I break out mostly on my cheeks and get millia (hard "balls" of oil under the skin) in my under eye area. Because I have oily skin I have large pores that get clogged easily.
Now for the fun part. I use the Dermalogica Special Cleanse (oily skin cleanser), their Daily Microfoliant (exfoliant), and Alba Botanica Acne Dote (astringent). Everybody should exfoliate their face at least twice a week depending on their skin. People who thin skin shouldn't exfoliate to much because their skin is prone to getting "torn". I exfoliate everyday but not with a harsh granular (grainy) exfoliant. I also use the Olay Professional brush every other day (helps exfoliate my face). To save on time (because sometimes we just don't have that much time) I mix the Daily Microfoliant with the cleanser (look at me killin' 2 steps with 1 stone). Exfoliating also helps you get rid of the old cells that sit on top of your skin (these cells make ya look older...uhh no thank you). By the way don't forget to include your neck because when we age our neck and hands scream to the world how old we really are.
So after I'm done washing my face I pat it dry and use my Alba Acne Dote. It is always good to tone the face so I put a little in a spray bottle and spray it all over my face. Toner or astringent not only helps remove any left over residue but it also moistens the face before you apply your moisturizer. I always use my Clean and Clear Advantage acne control moisturizer BUT I mix it with either my Dermalogica Active Moist (in the morning, helps control my oil) or my Equate Night-Time firming cream (at night, because mama needs to keep her face lookin' young). I really like the Clean and Clear because I have noticed that it is helping keep my break outs on the low low.
When I have to take my eye makeup off I use the Equate Beauty Oil-Free eye makeup remover. This stuff is really really good. I wear contacts and have pretty sensitive eyes and it doesn't bother me at all.
Sometimes when my face is in need of some extra lovin' I use the Glamglow SuperMud Clearing Treatment. I got this for Christmas from my husband (who bought it at Marshals). I love this so much because I'm one of those weirdos who likes watching the stuff come out of my skin. It's so liberating lol. I usually just put it on my problem areas such as my nose, chin and cheeks. Glamglow also has a hydrating mask that I use when my face is thirsty.
I don't use an eye cream because I'm on the hunt for an oil-free yet nourishing one because the ones I have tried cause millia under my eyes and they are so annoying (like little mountains of yuck...ewww). So if you guys have any suggestions please help a sista out.
I hope this has helped you all or at least gave you some ideas if you're in the market for some new facial products.
Today I'm going to leave you with some sexy photos of me with my mask. Please if you have a weak stomach do not look at them...lol
So sexy...lol NOT!!!! I have coconut oil in my hair that's why it looks so greasy. Look at those pores just gettin' so clear.
Hoped you enjoyed reading.
